Sony specified that all Playstation 2 games are compatible to be used on all models of Playstation 3, if they observe their system’s Technical Requirement Checklist.  There are some problems in receiving backward compatibility with some games, which did not follow the checklist for technical requirements. The game developers are therefore instructed now to stick to this checklist to make compatibility possible with future Playstation too.  You can use existing Blu ray disks that have old Advanced Access Content System keys as usual with Playstation3 that has the system software version 1.8 or higher. AACS  will renew their keys regularly.
