Mario Pumpkin October 29, 2007

Would’ja look at the time? You’ve only got about half a day left to send us a pic of the video game-themed pumpkin you no doubt slaved over the entire weekend. Take Takayoshi Sugawara here who not only carved a Mario pumpkin – heck, we’ve seen those! – but sculpted the plumber’s familiar countenance from what we can only imagine is soft pumpkin-shaped rock.
You’ve got until noon tomorrow, after which point we’ll select our twenty-five favorite pumpkins before turning the entire process over to you guys tomorrow afternoon to pick the ten winners of Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles. Check out the rules and get those pics in.

Kotakuite kumajoe and his pal atomicboyx raise a valid point in regards to pumpkin-carving character selection:
I got tired of videogame heroes on vegetables so me (kumajoe) and my friend atomicboyx did a twosome of mean guys from nintendo.
They’re right. Too many good guys, not enough bad guys. Looking at how nice these are, we need more bad guys. Get to it. But hurry! Hallow’s Eve is but a week away.
Space Invaders Immortalized In Pumpkin October 18, 2007

By artist Jonathan H. Liu, this Space Invaders pumpkin has a protip built right in. He scraped away at the outside shell as opposed to cutting directly through it. This allowed him to keep the floating eyes on all four of the invaders, while subsequently making us fear ever setting knife to a pumpkin again. Hit the jump for not one, but two bonus shots of Liu’s work.
